Research Interests
Functional genomics and proteomics using microarray technology and differential display/screening methods, 2D-PAGE, Y2H, TAP etc. and identification and development of molecular markers linked to disease resistance genes. Determination of genes involved in disease resistance and zinc efficiency and boron tolerance. The interactions of R-gene with other host factors and pathogen. Applications of Molecular Markers: DNA fingerprinting and genetic relationship of durum, bread wheat cultivars and wild types using SSRs and AFLP markers. Development of new methods for SSR marker development. DNA isolation from ancient wheat seeds (700BC-6000BC), PCR amplification and DNA sequence analysis of loci from ancient wheat to study wheat domestication
