Energy Consumption Patterns and Sustainable Energy Sources
In year 2004, worldwide energy consumption was estimated as 15 TW, of which 86.3 % was from burning fossil fuels. In Turkey also the share of fossil fuels is large. Energy consumption pattern of the wold and Turkey should change over the coming years due to political considerations over the security of supplies, environmental concerns related to global warming and sustainability. Energy Policy of European Union (EU) target level renewable energy in EU overall mix to shift from today’s 7 % to 20% by 2020. Energy conservation and efficiency are the important aspects to be considered in all the energy fields.
