Considerations and Reflections on Applied Mathematics Shared and a Happy New Year!
By this seminar at the end of 2004, a small review is given about some projects and results in fields of applied mathematics, of the old year, by the speaker and his valuable colleagues and friends from IAM and around of it. These fields are located in optimization theory, in computational biology, medicine and finance, in inverse problems like, e.g., discrete tomography, and they will be considered from the unifying viewpoints of prediction, i.e., of anticipatory and dynamical systems, of statistical and common learning. This seminar may remind us all of the beauty of shared mathematics applied and the entire manifold service done by all the members and friends of Institute of Applied Mathematics in 2004. Let us have a short rest and common looking forward to 2005: in a cordial gratitude, a great joy, hope and vision. A very good time - if I may say it: a merry Christmas - and a peaceful and blessed future!
